Ben’s Original’s Flavorful History
In the 1940s, there is an interesting story about the history of Ben’s Original brand. It was first named Uncle Ben’s after a famous rice farmer in Texas whose rice was regarded as better than anyone else’s, and other farmers borrowed his name for their brands. It was, however, Frank Brown, a waiter at a Chicago dining place who appeared on the initial packaging starting from 1946, not the Texas farmer whom people thought originally came up with this idea. The company’s founders, Gordon L. Harwell and Erich Huzenlaub, pioneered rice manufacturing, developing a method that allowed parboiled rice to lock in nutrients and flavor.
As September started in 2020, Uncle Ben’s was renamed to reflect its current values better globally into Ben’s Original. This was among the changes Mars Food wanted when they wanted a more friendly tone on their brand regarding race since there’s no place these days where such negative conclusions based on appearance should prevail. Ben’s Original doesn’t disappoint when it comes to rice meals, as it’s still one of the most popular brands in households across many nations for its delicious products.
