Chipotle fans would agree that there’s nothing better than an iced cold beverage while having a bite of their famous burritos. They act as palate cleansers to refresh your taste buds while allowing you to savor the flavors of your food. 

We bear great news for fans as Chipotle Mexican Grill just rolled out their new ready-to-drink beverage assortment, including Poppi, Open Water, and Coke Zero.

These refreshing new additions allow you to enjoy the last few weeks of summer. They are available now at all Chipotle restaurants nationwide for dine-in, takeout, or delivery. 

Now, what makes these beverages special? In 1993, Chipotle made a change in the restaurant industry with their belief that fast food restaurants do not need to be traditional fast food. Taking this belief, they curated the perfect menu items with high-quality ingredients, classic culinary techniques, and chef-driven menu specials to change how guests see fast food restaurants.

In line with their continuous change in the recent years, four years ago, Chipotle introduced their Beverages with Integrity, in which they serve non-GMO and all-natural and certified Aguas Frescas and Lemonated created with Tractor Beverage Co. What’s even better is that five percent of its sale profits will be donated to different causes to support farming community. 

Stephanie Perdue, Vice President of Brand Marketing at Chipotle, said that perfect drinks enhance the flavor of your go-to Chipotle meal. She added that their ready-to-drink beverages would appeal to their guests’ love of unique flavors for healthy mindsets.

Diving Deeper With Low to No Sugar Sodas

Admit it, sodas are the perfect beverage when eating Mexican food. It has a different kick to it that no other beverage offers, making our meal a hundred times better. But now, you don’t have to feel guilty when enjoying good old sodas as Chipotle is partnering with Poppi. This prebiotic soda brand combines fruit juice and prebiotics to create health-friendly sodas with five grams of sugar or less and 25 calories or less. 

Both Chipotle and Poppi will provide Strawberry Lemon and Orange soda flavors for delicious but guilt-free offerings.

In line with this, Chipotle’s culinary team has created the perfect entrée pairings with each soda flavor to complement each other’s taste. Talk about the perfect drink pairing! Check out the following pairings that guests’ love a hearty lunchtime or dinnertime meal. 

  • Poppi Strawberry Lemon – Best paired with the Chicken Salad with roasted chili-corn salsa, fajita vegetables, and chipotle honey vinaigrette. The tanginess of the soda complements well with the sweet and spicy flavor of the vinaigrette dressing.
  • Poppi Orange – Best paired with Steak Quesadilla with sides of guacamole, hand-chopped cilantro-lime, white rice, and fresh tomato salsa. The adobo seasoning of the steak stands out when matched with the citrus flavor of the soda.

Let’s Talk About Open Water

Chipotle’s Beverage With Integrity campaign would not be possible without earth-friendly packaging options. With this, they are partnering up with Open Water, a female-owned and LGBTQIA+ founded and led business that aims to eliminate ocean plastic pollution by removing plastic water bottles in the U.S.

Chipotle wanted their guests to be part of Open Water’s aim by offering a recyclable, Climate Neutral certified, 16-ounce aluminum bottled water. Open Water has brought nearly 3,500 of their products to different restaurants with Chipotle being Open Water’s largest restaurant partner yet.

A portion of Open Water sales from Chipotle will go to agriculture projects for the health of coastal waters. Who says fighting pollution is hard? By purchasing Open Water’s products, you get to help save the environment and donate to regenerative agriculture projects. 

What’s New At Chipotle?

Aside from partnerships with Poppi and Open Water, Chipotle has other special menu items for fans. With the Paris Summer Olympics ongoing, Chipotle proudly cheers for Team USA with their exciting new specials gracing their menu. This July, Chipotle just rolled out an exclusive digital menu specializing in athletes’ nutrition requirements to inspire fans to choose for healthy fast food alternatives. 

Each menu item will be featured on Chipotle’s “Unwrapped” series, where athletes will share the importance of nutritious eating habits and how they contributed to their success in their following sports. 

The meals included in the lineup are:

  • The Anthony Edwards Bowl – Features chicken and steak filled with brown rice, roasted chili-corn salsa, tomato salsa, and lettuce for added crunch. 
  • The Sophia Smith Burrito – A burrito filled with brown rice, chicken, light black and pinto beans, red chili salsa, tomato salsa, roasted chili-corn salsa, cheese, and sour cream. 
  • The Taylor Fritz Bowl – A meal bowl packed with double portions of chicken, white rice, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole.
  • The Sara Hughes Burrito – Features double portions of steak, white rice, cheese, black beans, and lettuce.
  • The Jagger Eaton Burrito – A burrito packed with tender chicken, white rice, black beans, roasted chili-corn salsa, red-chili salsa, guacamole, cheese, and lettuce.

Fast food restaurants are a guilty pleasure of mine, but sometimes, I stop and try to think about the effects it would have on my health. It’s a good thing that Chipotle has long offered customers menu options that are health-friendly, even before the health craze among fast food restaurants began. Not only that, I admire Chipotle for making the world a better place to live in by partnering up with products that are both eco-friendly and donating to causes that are relevant to their products. Good job, Chipotle!
