In case you need a little reminder of how it tastes (or looks), it features a chargrilled chicken breast topped with melted parmesan cheese. It also includes your sandwich’s usuals of tomato and lettuce. The best part? It’s got a basil pesto aioli that is sandwiched between the parmesan-encrusted sourdough.
Jason Triail, Director of Culinary Innovation at Habit Burger Grill, recognizes the Basil Pesto Chicken Sandwich as one of their most craveable seasonal menu items. Triail said that they couldn’t wait for more guests to sink their teeth into the chargrilled chicken paired with pesto.
If you think that’s all, you’re wrong! Habit Burger Grill is welcoming back another menu item; this time, it’s a side dish. Say hello again to their award-winning Roasted Garlic Cauliflower side that pairs with their charbroiled burgers. The cauliflower is roasted to order and seasoned with their signature spice blend. This limited-time side is served together with a garlic aioli and lemon wedge.

In case you don’t know, this Irvine-based burger joint was previously known as The Habit Burger & Grill, but they now preferred to be called as Habit Burger Grill. This change may be subtle, but it definitely adds more recognition to their brand since it’s way easier to remember and focuses solely on what they serve.
Jack Hinchliffe, Chief Marketing Officer of the Habit Burger Grill, said that they aren’t changing their name. They’re simply embracing what they’ve always been, an “&” brand. He added that the simple rebranding is a celebration of the brand’s diverse menu and their commitment to serving only fresh and high-quality ingredients. It’s something that they have built with their customers and communities.
A little trip down memory lane, Habit Burger Grill first opened in 1969, serving chargrilled burgers and malts. It’s a perfect pair to the hot California weather! All of their patties, chicken, and tuna are cooked in an open flame to get that certain smokey flavor attached to the meat.

This shake is crafted by hand and prepared upon order. It’s got the nostalgic Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal blended with vanilla ice cream. It’s finished off with a generous swirl of whipped cream on top.

Rebranding used to be a thing of the past when decades-old fast-food restaurants would change into a much more shorter name. I’m surprised that Habit Burger Grill, a chain that has been there since 1969, will rebrand. Well, I’m not complaining about that since the new name is much more recognizable, and of course, we’re getting these fan-favorite menu items back! To be honest, the Basil Pesto Chicken Sandwich is new to me as I can’t imagine pesto sauce smothered in my chicken sandwich. But hey, here’s to trying new things! Who knows? I might end up liking this one.
