A new CosMc’s store just opened its doors in the U.S. this week, following the first one that popped up in a suburb near Chicago. This latest spot launched in Dallas on Tuesday, becoming the second out of a planned eight locations to open this year.
CosMc’s first showed up in December in Bolingbrook, near Chicago. People lined up for hours to check it out, as it was the first of its kind in the country.
This drive-thru-only joint mainly focuses on drinks, like smoothies, teas, frappes, and more. They also dish out food, such as a creamy avocado tomatillo sandwich, and treats like cookies, caramel fudge brownies, and McPops – mini doughnuts filled with cookie butter, apple cinnamon, or hazelnut.
According to a spokesperson, CosMc’s is a new small-format restaurant that’s mainly about beverages and is part of a limited test run. The place seems to be inspired by an old McDonald’s character named CosMc, an alien from ads in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
McDonald’s plans to have 10 CosMc’s stores open across the country by the end of the year. More stores are expected to pop up in the Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio areas by the end of 2024.
