Taco Bell Unveils Bold New Crunchwrap Flavors Inspired by TBX Chefs

Hey Taco Bell fans, here’s an announcement that could cheer you up just in case things aren’t going your way this week.

You know things are about to get serious when a well-known fast food chain releases their chef creations. I know chef creations and fast food restaurants don’t entirely match, but the concept behind it is cool, right? Fans are given a chance to taste chef-made options of their favorites.

Taco Bell is further expanding their menu with the upgraded Crunchwrap Supreme which now has three flavors and eight new ingredient additions. How cool is that? After months of trial and error, the chain is testing new interpretations of the Crunchwrap Supreme that features new ingredients, such as the spice from fiery hot chicken, Thai-inspired sauces, and Indian-spiced flavors.

Feeling excited? Better be, as Taco Bell’s Test Kitchen is teaming up with TBX chef partners! These new innovative items are the first to debut under the TBX program that was launched earlier this year in an effort to bring fresh perspectives to the brand. With the help of the program’s new culinary talents, Taco Bell aims to offer fans a new way to enjoy the brand.

In case you missed it, Taco Bell did a multi-day preview in New York City from October 16-17. Following this, the chain will further test the TBX’s crafted Crunchwrap Supreme to let fans know of its release in 2025. But if you’re excited to take a bite, you don’t have to wait for its release next year! For a limited time, Taco Bell will be offering its Rewards Members up to $3 customization so fans can create their own version of Crunchwrap Supreme.

What’s In Store For The Crunchwrap Supreme?

The Crunchwrap Supreme has been one of Taco Bell’s fan-favorite menu options since its debut in 2005. Fans know of its hexagonal shape that is filled with seasoned beef nacho cheese sauce, along with the usual ingredients included in your soft taco order.

This year, three chefs will headline Crunchwrap Supreme’s new flavor releases. Chefs Reuben Asaram, Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin, and Lawrence “LT” Smith have it all under control! They’re bringing their own culinary perspectives to add a remix to Taco Bell’s classic menu item to offer something new but still paying homage to the classics. Check out the creations that each chef has to offer for the Crunchwrap Supreme.

Chef Reuben’s Indian Buffet Crunchwrap Supreme

We’re getting a Crunchwrap Supreme flavor made out of Chef Reuben’s memories from his childhood. The Indian Buffet Crunchwrap Supreme features a slow-roasted chicken that is smothered in creamy tomato curry and Mexican-spiced rice. Other ingredients include:

  • Cucumber Mint Sauce
  • Classic Crunchy Corn Tostada
  • Fresh Lettuce
  • Pico de Gallo

For vegetarian fans they can also choose to swap the meat for crispy potato bites as their protein of choice.

Chef Jenn’s Crispy Thai Noodle Crunchwrap Supreme

Crispy Thai noodles in a Crunchwrap Supreme? Yes, please! Taking inspiration from her Asian roots, Chef Jenn’s Crunchwrap recipe is a modern twist to the nostalgic comforting noodle soup. It features a marinated chicken that is tossed in a khao soi aioli with a crunchy wheat noodle. To add a South Texas twist, Chef Jenn added a reduced-fat sour cream along with onions, cilantro, and avocado basil. Mixing two traditional dishes from two different cultures has never been this good!

Chef LT’s Southwest Hot CHX Crunchwrap Supreme

Inspired by the family gathering food that we enjoy, Chef LT is taking us back to comfort with his Southwest Hot CHX Crunchwrap Supreme recipe. It puts a modern, Southwest spin on the classic chicken nuggets. They are tossed in a sauce made out of salsa macha, Oaxaca-style mozzarella, and Monterey Jack cheeses. To blend all the flavors in, Chef Jenn mixes purple cabbage slaw and cilantro, as well as added apricot hot sauce to create a balance of heat.

Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s Global Chief Food Innovation Officer, said that as a brand, they have long pushed for the boundaries of food innovation. Their collaboration with the three chefs allows them to honor different culinary traditions from around the world. Matthews shared the mantra of TBX, which is “Our thing + their thing = a whole new kind of thing.” It implies that they’re blending in different tastebuds plus Taco Bell’s signature ones to create an innovative menu item. Well, it looks like they’re starting with the Crunchwrap Supreme! 👀

A Taste of Crunchwrap Supreme

Taco Bell launched the exclusive taste test of these new Crunchwrap Supreme over an exclusive two-day New York City preview, as mentioned earlier. TBX food trucks were seen around Williamsburg last October 16, and they were also spotted at Washington Square Park last October 17. Lucky fans get to taste, snap a pic, and experience these new Crunchwrap Supremes firsthand.

If you haven’t got the chance to grab a bite of these treats, don’t worry, as they’re set to be released by 2025. The chefs of TBX understand that the best dishes are born from extensive trial and error — even the world’s classic dishes are born from it! Did you know that it took Taco Bell 13 years to upgrade and perfect the Crunchwrap Supreme? It was also heavily based on fan feedback, of course. This trial and experimentation is crucial for Taco Bell as the feedback will dictate its future availability in 2025.

Get a Free Crunchwrap Customization

If you can’t wait for its release, or perhaps you’re one of those who missed the New York City two-day preview, you may customize your own Crunchwrap like how the TBX chefs did it. As mentioned previously, Taco Bell’s Rewards Members may add $3 worth of their favorite ingredients and customization for free via the Taco Bell app. This will give you the freedom to create your Crunchwrap as you wish.

Stay in the know regarding the Crunchwrap Supreme news by checking out the new content series on Taco Bell’s YouTube channel about TBX. This will definitely get you excited and hyped up for the future release of the Crunchwrap Supreme.
