Want to take a bite out of nostalgia? We got you! The ’70s gave us some of the most iconic snacks, and they’re so wild and wonderful we still can’t stop thinking about them. Gone but not forgotten, these iconic snacks will take you back to the ’70s every time. Join us for a sweet (or salty) trip down the memory lane!
10. Marathon Candy Bars

Marathon’s bright red packaging isn’t the only reason that it stood out in the candy aisle. This caramel-y, chewy snack was also dubbed as Mars’ longest-lasting candy innovation. The candy bar was eight inches long but there was a 15-inch version sold in Southern California. “Marathon” came from the fact that it took a long time to finish the candy.
9. Pillsbury Space Food Sticks

One of the coolest things on Earth (or in the Space) during the ’70s was the Pillsbury Space Food Sticks, created in partnership with NASA. The sticks were individually wrapped and would fit through the small opening of the astronauts’ helmets. According to General Mills, the sticks accompanied Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong when their spacecraft landed on the moon.
8. Screaming Yellow Zonkers

This buttery, sugary popcorn snack was such a big hit in the ’70s, and the unique packaging and funny messages on the box helped it rose to fame. Zonkers were also created as a peanut-less alternative to other sweet popcorn treats in the same era, like Cracker Jack and Fiddle Faddle. When ConAgra Foods acquired Lincoln Snacks (the original Zonkers producer) in 2007, Zonkers were discontinued.
7. Doo Dads

Doo Dads was a snack mix way better than Chex Mix, at least according to Redditors whose parents enjoyed the former. The mix included pretzels, toasted peanuts, wheat squares, rice squares, and what set it apart from other snack mixes: cheese Tid-Bit crackers (more on this later). Many food enthusiasts agree: Doo Dads is the king of snack mix, may it rest in peace in snack heaven.
6. Delfa Rolls

Delfa Rolls, also known as Danish Ribbons, were a strawberry licorice treat seen on the shelves as early as ’60s. The company behind this sweet snack, Iconic Candy, reportedly worked for years to bring back Delfa Rolls. However, only cheap knock offs of the treat are available on Amazon right now.
5. Freakies Cereal

Freakies cereal was another hit from the ’70s, mainly because of how it was marketed. It featured a cast of “monster” characters, which kids easily identified with. Created by Jackie End, the Freakies gang was based off End’s co-workers’ personalities. Originally, the cereal tasted similar to Cap’n Crunch (without the peanut butter taste), but it also had cocoa and fruity flavors.
4. Alpha Bits

As the name suggests, this cereal featured frosted alphabet-shaped corn cereal bits. How fun and nostalgic it is to spell words while eating breakfast! The novelty of “eating the alphabet” was appealing to parents, especially those who were looking for a fun way to practice literacy skills. Of course, the slightly sweet taste and satisfying crunch added to the overall enjoyment.
3. Jell-O Pudding Pops

Pudding and popsicle in one treat? That’s JELL-O Pudding Pops for you! It was way better than fudgesicle as it has a more rounded and richer taste. During its first year on the store shelves, it was so popular it earned $100,000,000 in sales. Within five years, the profit rose to $300 million. However, in 2010, there was a lack of demand, putting the pudding pops to sleep forever.
2. Koogle Peanut Spread

Young peanut butter fans would be bummed to have missed out on this gem! Koogle Peanut Spread came in playful flavors that were as amazing as they sounded: chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, and banana. The Koogle peanut butter spread was also easier to spread than a regular peanut butter, and so it didn’t tear the bread.
1. Nabisco Tid-Bit Crackers

These are small cheddar crackers formed into sticks that were so easy to eat on the go. They had a distinct cheesy flavor that paired so well with sour cream and other munchies like Cheetos cheese balls and Spanish peanuts. These are the same Tid-Bit crackers that appeared in Doo Dads snack mix, adding that irresistible cheesy taste!
